Quick Answer

ACA premium tax credits (subsidies) in 2026 are available to individuals and families earning between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level who don't have access to affordable employer coverage. For a single person in Corpus Christi, Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, San Antonio, Victoria, or anywhere in South Texas, that's roughly $15,960 to $63,840 per year. The enhanced subsidies that were available through 2025 have expired — the 400% FPL cliff is back.

2026 Update: The enhanced ACA subsidies expired on December 31, 2025. The 400% FPL income cap has returned. If your income is above ~$63,840 (single) or ~$131,960 (family of 4), you may no longer qualify for a subsidy. Call us to explore your options.

How ACA Subsidies Work in 2026

The rules changed this year. Here's what you need to know.

100%–400% FPL: Subsidy Zone

If your income falls in this range, you qualify for a premium tax credit. The lower your income, the bigger your subsidy. Enhanced subsidies expired — the 400% cap is back for 2026.

100%–250% FPL: Extra Savings

At this income level, you also qualify for Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSR) on Silver plans — dramatically lower deductibles and copays. This is often the best value tier.

Over 400% FPL: Subsidy Cliff

The subsidy cliff returned in 2026. One dollar over 400% FPL means $0 in subsidies. A licensed agent can help you plan around this and explore all your options.
